NYFW 2019's Hottest Moments
Fall in New York is more than just the beginning of cold weather, orange leaves in Central Park and hot drinks at Starbucks. It’s also New York Fashion Week, one of the fashion industry’s biggest moments. For designers, it’s the highlight of the fall and the beginning of planning out what Spring 2020 will look like. For models and celebrities, it’s the chance to steal the show and maybe even make a statement.
For us, it’s a chance to look at what’s hot. Check out what made people talk the most for this year’s New York Fashion week.
Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya

Sometimes, all you need for rebranding and revitalizing an old brand is a fresh new face. Zendaya has had a collection with Tommy Hilfiger for awhile now, but her status as a well-loved celeb has skyrocketed since her recent roles on Spiderman: Far From Home and the edgy HBO series, Euphoria.
Zendaya’s designed line, Tommy x Zendaya, is the first NYC show the brand has held in five seasons, and it featured LGBTQ and plus-sized women of color in fabulous suits, polka dots and other fashionable choices that are very sleek, effortless sexy ‘70s.

After a whole year away from the runways, Kirby Jean Raymond of Pyer Moss took Fashion Week by storm with an amazing celebration of black fashion, beauty and pride. The show at Kings Theater featured the Pyor Moss Tabernacle Drip Choir, creating quite the vibe for a show centered around black beauty.

This show was the last of a three-part series dedicated to revolutionizing the most basic essentials of American culture; 2018 belonged to the cowboy in February, and pro-black statement pieces in September (never forget the iconic ‘STOP CALLING 911 ON THE CULTURE’).

This year, it was an ode to rock n’ roll, a music genre that history has notoriously hidden its black roots and founders. The collection, titled Sister after Sister Rosetta Thorpe, the true founder of modern rock n’ roll, was a beautiful reminder of the power that is acknowledging the beauty of those whose legacy has been forgotten and pushed aside.

YG and Kehlani???

Who else pulled a WTF moment when they first saw Kehlani’s posts confirming the new relationship with LA rapper YG? The two were all over the Fashion Week scene, with Kehlani stealing the spotlight with stunning dresses, such as the elegant Michael Cinco ballgown that graced the Harper’s BAZAAR Icon Event.

Bay Area rapper and IG baddie Saweetie tried her hand at running her own New York Fashion Week Runway show with fast fashion brand Pretty Little Thing. She didn’t do it alone, though; the “My Type” rapper brought out Lil’ Kim and Ashanti to the stage.

It was boujee, it was sexy and it was fun. Didn’t hurt that Saweetie’s collection, modelled by a diverse cast of models, nearly sold out before the show had even started!

Moulin Rouge, anyone?

In case the fashion wasn’t exciting enough, luxury brand The Blonds took its audience to Broadway, partnering with the cast of Moulin Rouge, the new Broadway show.

Featuring songs from the show, Pose’s very own fabulous Billy Porter performing and even Paris Hilton walking, The Blonds certainly knew how to keep the show sexy and fun with bejeweled, leopard and lace pieces dominating the runway.
