#Celebrating Glamazontay: The Youtube Fashionista That's Taking Her Talents To The Runway
Youtube is one of the most insightful platforms we’ve experienced during this digital age. We’ve seen everyday people be able to accomplish their wildest dreams by being creating captivating content that reaches millions of people across the world. We’ve seen so many black creators like DDG, Jackie Aina, Queen Naija, and Dearra + Ken be able to secure brand deals all because of content created out of passion or hobby.
LA-based Youtuber Glamazontay is the latest creator that has taken her talents beyond the platform. She began creating videos in 2013. Tay developed her following through DIY videos, make-up tutorials, and fashion advice vlogs. The New Jersey native has garnered over 875,000 subscribers on her Glamazontay Youtube channel and 165,000 subscribers on her Glamazontay Vlog channel.
Tay does not have a problem being transparent during her self-discovery journey. Her subscribers have witnessed her go through college, heal from heartbreaks, launch a boutique, and more. Tay's unapologetic approach to creating content has allowed her to build a strong following that looks forward to her life updates and advice.
We recently had a chance to chat with her about how she balances being her authentic self and a businesswoman, Paris Fashion week and more. Check out the full interview below:
What makes you RARE?
I mean honestly what doesn’t make me rare? Lol I feel like the way I walk, the way I talk, and the way I get things done make me unique. There isn't a category or box you can put me in. One day, you may see me speaking in front of thousands of women empowering them and giving them the fuel to start their dream life, then in the next moment, you might see me twerking on a couch in the middle of the club having the time of my life. I'm just authentically myself. That's pretty rare within itself.
The thing I love the most about your videos is the way you give off big sister/favorite cousin vibes. Can you tell us what sisterhood/being a woman means to you?
I appreciate you saying that because that’s a big thing that I liked growing up, so for me to be able to reach my viewers that way means a lot. I feel like sisterhood is having a woman there to lift you, pour into you at times when you’re not able to pour into yourself, someone I can rely on when I’m in my darkest moment they can rely on me when they’re going through the same.

My favorite part about being a woman is being able to embody so much strength and power yet being able to still be graceful and precious at the same time. It’s like literally being a woman is picking up something so heavy but it looks so lightweight. We carry a lot but we do it gracefully where it looks like anybody can do it until they realize they can’t.
What advice would you give a young woman that wants to enter her own self-love journey?
The advice I would give to a young woman that wants to start her self-love journey would be to think about the things that you like to do or things that make you feel good. It can be something as simple as journaling, eating your favorite food, or having your favorite drink. JUST DO IT!

What does self-care look like to you?
Self-care to me looks like me simply taking care of myself, making sure that I am feeling the best, and doing the best.
Congratulations on being a part of Paris Fashion Week, tell us how that opportunity came about?
It’s so crazy the Paris fashion week thing came abruptly. I literally only had about a month to prepare for it. I wasn’t expecting it all, and I was invited so that was aligned and meant for me. It was a crazy experience to push myself through but I genuinely enjoyed it.

What was your biggest take away from that experience?
The biggest takeaway from that experience is when I dream to dream bigger than I can imagine. I feel like when I set goals it's almost too obtainable. I'm big on manifestation so it puts a lot of things into perspective and allows me to go harder.
You’ve always been super fashionable/creative, but who are some of your fashion inspirations?
Thierry Mugler
What’s your ultimate goal when it comes to fashion/being a designer?
My ultimate goal with being a designer is to have women feel their truest authentic selves when they put my garment on. I want to have that mix of pieces that are bold, feminine, daring, graceful, and so much more. And of course, I want to see thousands of people in my fashion all over.
Do you enjoy doing YouTube or Fashion more & why?
Honestly, I can’t choose what I like doing more. I feel like both go hand and hand. I love youtube because I connect with so many people and teach them things by showcasing my life. I also get to share my fashion journey there and fashion that has always been something instilled into me, so it’s just a blessing to be able to create something and have people be able to get joy from something that I create.

As a YouTuber/Influencer who has been documenting her life for years, what’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned when you reflect on your life?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that not everybody is going to agree with what you do. That doesn’t mean that you can’t do it. It’s going to be somebody saying something no matter what decision you make, so if that’s the case just do what you want to do regardless. I’d rather be talked about for doing something that I wanted to do versus something that I didn’t even want to do.
Social media can sometimes be overwhelming just for the average person, how do you find a healthy balance as a full time creative?
I find a healthy balance by shutting the world out, turning my apps off, and hanging with my dog. I am on social media a lot. I know when it’s time for me to dial back in and check-in with myself to make sure I’m good.
What advice would you give an aspiring entrepreneur/YouTuber?
Some advice I would give to an inspiring entrepreneur is to stay consistent and do what makes you happy. Don’t do what you think others want to see. If you do what you genuinely want to do and take a little bit of trend or whatever is popping and make it your own it's going blow. It may not happen right away, but it definitely will all align when it's supposed to.
What’s next for you?
I have a lot of things in the works! Be sure to follow me @Glamazontay to stay updated!
