We had to opportunity to interview him about his start in music, influences and what to look out for in 2022.

Check out the full interview below:

What makes your RARE?

I believe the rarest thing about myself and what I do is how much I pay attention to the association between words and music. Some words feel better when said at a certain point, some don't. We work tirelessly on the arrangement of things and take great pride in our work.

How did you to get your start in music?

Church, I think growing up in church put me on to so much more than just the regular shit. I grew up loving Nat king Cole and Barry White- later finding my love for the Hov's and Wayne’s of the world.

Who are some of your musical inspirations?

Sade Adu is my biggest inspiration; her style of writing is something I deeply admire. Barry White, Prince, Queen, Michael & Quincy Jones. the list could go on and on. I grew up on so much great music

You dropped two EP’s last year walk us through your creative process. How has the pandemic helped or hurt?

The EP's were a fun process, I started loving what I was creating again. for the EPs I really wanted to create a lot of anthems. I wanted to work with a lot of other producers that I might not have gotten the chance to work with (J08s Randolla Stephen Carrmona) while also telling the story I want. The important thing to me is that people look back years from now and understand that everything connects. the pandemic for me had its ups and downs but I think it was a needed refresh for myself.  I’m very private person so being to myself is always great.

How has the Dallas culture influenced you as an artist/overall person?

I grew up here. All over the city. This city is deeply rooted in a lot of the things I rap about. I’ve been thru my ups and downs with this city, but I believe this city makes bosses'.

What’s your dream collaboration?

Sade or SZA. always. I’d also love to work with Normani & Kiana Lede. Love their voices.

What is your ultimate goal? What’s next for you?

My ultimate goal in life is to be free and happy. Music doesn't necessarily determine that for me, I actually look at music as the story on the way to that goal. With that said, I want to be the greatest ever. Long way to go.

What’s next for me is an album. I’ve had this album done for a while now and we're shooting videos for it. I am so excited to release this project, it means the world to me. It’s my most important project ever and I really Hope everyone gets a chance to fall in love with it like we have over these last months.

Producing/Songwriting for others is also a big part of my 2022 schedule, I want to work with EVERYBODY. I Want to create a that 80s feeling in the studios now, just creating minus the coke and shit.

Last but not least, introducing the world to the VFR collective I started. SO MANY talented producers’ musicians singers rappers etc.  in the group. I’m beyond excited about that, my album & VFR have me so excited for 2022!
